Sutter Gamma Knife Replacement Project

This is a Design-Build project with Boulder Architects and select MEP trades. Scope includes renovation needed for installation of a Gamma Knife radiosurgery machine and associated control room and medical office TI of approximately 4,100 sf. Construction schedule duration is expected to be 25 weeks.

A Gamma Knife is one of the world’s most technologically advanced machines that can be used alone or as an additional therapy to treat brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, vascular malformations, and other neurological disorders for patients of all ages.

On Saturday, January 9th, the latest Gamma Knife technology, Elekta’s new Leksell Gamma Knife called Icon – one of the first in the nation, arrived at the Fort Sutter Medical Complex of the new Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento Specialty Clinics. The latest in its technology, the Gamma Knife Icon is considered the most sophisticated, non-invasive system for radiosurgical treatment of brain cancer and other neurological disorders.

Project Manager Sean Ladd with Unger Construction says that the “go-live” for the Gamma Knife to begin patient treatment is anticipated for early March, 2016.
